The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has reaffirmed its involvement in the construction of a pagoda at Wat Phum Man Pha, Borei Rom Province, Thailand, copying the Khmer Angkor Wat after a large number of Cambodians expressed dissatisfaction with the Thai side’s actions. Regarding this issue, the Ministry said that in the case of construction at Wat Phou Man Fa in Borei Rom Province, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has paid close attention to the construction activities by assigning a professional team to monitor from the beginning. That is, since this case erupted in 2021.
Previous actions taken by the Ministry have focused on diplomatic relations between the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the Thai side (Thai Embassy in Cambodia and the Thai Ministry of Culture) by sending researchers to inspect the construction site. Experts went down to check that the construction had not been built yet.
The Ministry added that Cambodia has a clear position to prevent any acts that copy the national identity based on diplomatic activities, technical verification work, site inspections, and national and international legal work in case of need. Take.
