Cambodia imports US$921 million worth of construction materials in the first half
In the first six months, Cambodia imported US$921 million worth of construction equipment, down 6.3 percent from the same period last year, according to the report of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The ministry said in a report that 1,849 construction permits that were approved fell by 151 projects, or 7.6 percent, with a total construction area of 6.8 million square meters, an increase of 138 percent and the investment volume was valued at $2,759 million, an increase of 128 percent compared to the same period last year.
“In the context of the new normal, the construction sector is recovering, although the number of projects is declining, the size of the construction area and the amount of construction have shown many positive signs, which means that projects built in the last period are mostly large-scale development projects,” read the report.
