Cambodia attracts 191investment projects worth over US$3.7 billion in 9 months

The Council for the Development of Cambodia has approved 191 new production expansion and investment projects in the first nine months of 2023, up from 150 registered in the same period last year.

Production expansion proposals and new investment projects totalled US$3,765 billion, up from US$3,459 million in the same period last year.

According to a report released over the weekend, there are 50 investment projects in the special economic zone with a total investment capital of US$639 million and 141 investment projects outside the special economic zone with a total investment capital of US$3,125 million.

In September alone, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved 27 new investment projects and production expansion projects with a total investment capital of approximately US$1.6 billion and job creation of more than 32,000.

Chinese investment tops the investment list as the largest foreign investor in Cambodia, accounting for about 76% of total investment in the first nine months. Other investors include local investors, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, the United States, Brunei, Sweden, Canada, Samoa and the British Virgin Islands.
